For use with 2806. Shows that electric charge lies on the outer surface of a charged hollow conductor, and not on its inner surface. Consists of a metallic, cylindrical shell mounted horizontally on an insulating stand. A metal ball is mounted vertically over the hollow cylinder. From the metallic ball are hung four pith balls—two suspended inside the hollow cylinder, and two above and outside the cylinder. Upon bringing the metallic ball in contact with a charged sphere, the balls inside the hollow cylinder remain unaffected, whereas the ones outside are repelled away from the cylinder. With instructions.
