An important instrument for demonstrating potential energy, vibrating masses, and Hooke's Law. A heavy, 10-cm diameter base has an upright, 25-cm rod. A finely-polished, aluminum scale graduated 0-120mm is mounted on the rod and can be adjusted along it. An adjustable collar fitted at the top of the rod carries a crossbar from which a spring is suspended. The lower end of the spring carries a weight hanger with a built-in pointer, which moves over the scale when loaded with weights. Demonstrates the relationship between the extension of the spring to the load producing the extension. With instructions.
