This apparatus demonstrates that if a body is thrown vertically from another body moving horizontally at uniform velocity, the horizontal component of velocity of the body thrown vertically is the same as that of the body moving horizontally, and the horizontal component is independent of the vertical component of velocity. Thus, a ball ejected from the vertical barrel of the ballistic car moving with uniform velocity returns back to its original position into the barrel. The apparatus consists of a heavy, metallic barrel mounted vertically on an aluminum car. The car has plastic wheels with ball bearings to minimize friction. Spring-loaded piston arrangement with two compression settings of spring are provided for ejecting the ball to two different heights. Complete with steel ball and one lock-pin with cord. With instructions.
